General Instructions
Basic Usage tips
Here are some generic tips that we suggest that you keep in mind when using Samparkh
- Use a single window for the non chat related activities. Using mutlitple windows for non-chat related functions will only
increase the load on our already overloaded servers.
- Please make sure you signout everytime you sign in. This helps us to release essential system resources that we devote to your
service when you are signed in.
- Try as much as possible to not abruptly close the browser window when you are signed in.
- Be patient. There are bound to be technical diffculties. Bugs and Crashes are a part and parcel of any software. There is a saying
The perfect line of code is that which is never written. So if there are difficulties, it only means that our team is trying to
get the service back up ASAP.
- Finally Have a nice time and do spread the word and invite more people to Samparkh
Appearence and GUI related
- Samparkh is best viewed at 1024*768 resolution
- Samparkh was designed to be deployed on Internet Explorer.So, for the best results please use Internet explorer to view Samparkh.
Other browsers can also be used, but we dont guarantee complete functionality or the best performance. Even menu and other component placement may be
diferent in different browsers. We are working towards making samparkh browser independent, but that will surely take some time.
- Samparkh requires javascript to be enabled and also pop ups to be allowed for Instant Chat. So all windows XP SP-2 users please choose allow
active content and also always allow popups from this site when prompted by security center. To see the effect of changes please sign-out
and login again.
- Users using other pop up blockers including Yahoo toolbar, Google toolbar etc please add Samparkh to allow pop up sites.
Samparkh Signup
If you are looking to sign up for Samparkh then contact an already existing Samparkh member and ask him/her to send you an invite. The invite link wil be your
personal passport to sign up for Samparkh and use its services.
Sign up form related
- Samparkh sign up form is an easy to use sign up form. Fill in the personal details . Please make sure that you keep a note of your samparkh username and password.
- During the course of choosing a username, Samparkh will immediately inform you whether the username is already taken or not. In such a case please choose a different
username and try.
- The username can be maximum of 20 characters and please do not use any special characters other than underscore.
- Please enter the information for the interests and hobbies section as a comma seperated list.
- Entries made into the sign up page will only take effect upon pressing the update button at the bottom of the page.

Problems while logging in
Forgot your password.
- In case you forget your password, you can follow a few simple rules to retrieve it.
- Clicking on the Forgot your password? link on the login page will take you through the password recovery process
- You will initially be asked to enter your username.
- Upon entering this information,Samparkh will immediately show you the Hint question that you had entered during sign up.
- Upon answering the hint question correctly, you will be given your new password.
Profile Information
Viewing My Profile Information
- There two modes of profile viewing. (a) MyProfile and (b) Profile . They can be differentiated from the changes int he left menu bar.
- MyProfile is basically the home for all the signed in Users. Myprofile shows the profile Information of the user as will be visible to other Samparkh users.
- The left menu bar shows links to your Messages page, scribbles page, Friends page and Testimonials page . There is a link to Edit the profile information also.
- On the right hand side of the my Profile page is the Instant friend List, Request list and Birthday list.
- The Instant friend list shows random friends who are either online or offline. These links can be clicked to go into the listed friends profile page.
- The Request List shows any Friend Requests that the user has received. The list will contain three columns, the first column will have the persons name and is a link to the persons profile page. the next two links will be to either accept or reject the friend request.
- The birthday list will list any upcoming Birthdays of people in the friends list in the coming 15 days. There will be a link to
the persons profile page.
Editing My Profile Information
- In the myprofile page click the Edit Profile Link to go to the Edit profile page.
- Everything except the username and Email can be changed.
- For changing the password, follow the change password wizard.
- The changes to the profile Information will only be visible after the update button is clicked at the Bottom of the page
Friends Profile
- Links to friends profile are provided every place the friends name appears and clicking that link will take you the friends profile page.
- The friends profile page will have the profile information, left menu , Instant friends list and quick scribble
- The left menu bar will have link to Invite to Chat, Send message, Add testimonial, Add as friend Scribbles
- Clicking the Invite to chat link will open a Chat pop up and will send an invite to the friend who is online. This link can only be clicked if the friend is online.
- Clicking on the Send Message page will open he compose message page. In this page the to and from address are already filled and only the subject and message have to be filled in. After filling in the message press send to send the message.
- The Add as Friendlink is to add the person as your friend. The action will send an invite to the person which when approved will add the person as your friend. If the person is already on your friends list,or has already been invited by you then a notification will alert you of the same.
- Add testimonial will open the add testimonial page and you can write a testimonial about your friend. The testimonial will be visible to all only if it is approved by the user.
- The Scribbles link will take you to the users scribble page. For more on scribbles click here
Messages
Viewing My Messages
- Your profile page will show you the link to the messages page also indicating the number of unread messages. Clicking on that link will bring you to the messages page.
- The messages page is split into two panes. The top pane shows the messages listing along with sender and date. The bottom pane shows the content of the message.
- Clicking on the sender will navigate you to the sender's profile page.
- Clicking on the subject of the message will refresh the bottom pane to display the new message.
Deleting / Replying to My messages.
- Below every message there are two buttons (a) Reply (b) Delete
- Clicking on the reply button will open the compose message page with the sender and the recipient names already filled in.
- You have to just fill in the content and press send. The subject is autofilled as a reply to the original message. Unlike other mail sites , the original message itself is not piggybacked
- Clicking on the Delete button will delete the message completely. There isnt a concept of trash so messages that are deleted will be deleted forever.
Sending Messages
- To send a message to a friend you have to navigate to his/her profile page and click the Send Message link in the left menu on doing so the compose page will open with the to and from filled in. Just fill in the subject and the content and press send.
Scribbles
What are Scribbles?
- Each user is given his/her own scribble book which can be considered as an equivalent of a public message board. Other users can write short messages here which can be viewed by one and all.
- Clicking on the Scribbles link on a friend's profile, will take you to his/her scribbles page.
- The Scribbles page is divided into three sections.New scribble, Search scribble and the list of scribbles.
Writing a scribble
- To write a new scribble for the person,click on the text area in the New scribble pane.
- Type in your scribble and click on the Submit button.
- An alternate way of writing a scribble is by making use of the Quick Scribble box provided on each persons profile page.You can type in your scribble there, and hit submit.
Searching for scribbles
- You can also search for a scribble by either or both of the given criteria 1)By person Containing.
- You can type in the name of the person whose scribble you want to search for. Upon hitting send, you will be returned a list of all the scribbles that, that person has written.
- Similiarly you can type in a word or a phrase that you are searching for, in the Containing section,hit search and you will be returned a list of scribbles in which that word/phrase appears.
Viewing scribbles
- The third section contains a list of all the scribbles of that person shown in the reverse order in which it was given.
- The scribble along with the name of the person who posted it and the date on which it was posted is displayed.
- You can click on the person's name to navigate to his/her profile.
- Next to the date,you will find a link called Reply if you are in your own scribble book. Clicking on this link will take you to the profile of the person who posted the scribble, enabling you to reply by scribbling in his/her book.
- Or a link called Delete if you are in your own scribble book or if you have posted the scribble. Clicking on this link will delete the scribble. Note that you are allowed to delete only those scribbles that are either written by you or are written to you.
- Each page will display only upto 8 scribbles. To view the other scribbles in the book, click on <<< Previous or Next >>>.
- In the middle of the page, you will also find a count of the total number of scribbles in the book.
Testimonials
What are testimonials?
- Testimonials are a kind of memorials you can write about your friends that will be displayed on his/her profile page for all to see. Your testimonial will be displayed if and only your friend approves it.
- To go to ones testimonial page, you must click on the Testimonials link on the profile page.
Writing testimonials
- You can go to any of your friends' testimonial page and type your testimonial into the text area give at the bottom of the page.
- Clicking on the Add a testimonial for friends name link will also take you to the text area.
- Once you have completed writing your testimonial, click on the Add.
- Upon this action, your testimonial will be saved for approval by your friend. The next time he/she comes online, he/she will be shown your testimonial. He/she can then approve or reject the testimonial.
- The testimonial will subsequently appear on his/her testimonial page if it is approved.
- If it is rejected, the testimonial will be deleted forever.
Approving testimonials
- Once a person writes a testimonial for you, it gets saved for approval by you and appears on your testimonial page when you login next.
- Your new testimonials are accompanied by two buttons 1)Accept and 2)Reject.
- You can make your decision as to whether to keep the testimonial or not by clicking the appropriate buttons.
- Once approved, the testimonial gets added to your list of approved testimonials that can be viewed by all the users visiting your profile.
Viewing testimonials
- A list of all the testimonials that are accepted are listed for everybody to view.
- In your testimonial page, you can also see a link Delete next to each testimonial.
- Clicking on this link,deletes your testimonial permanently.
Search
- Clicking on the Search link on your left menu or on the top right corner on your page, you will be taken to the search page.
- On opening the page, you will find a general list of users in Samparkh
- You can search for users by one or more of the following criteria 1)Name 2)Email id 3)Gender 4)Country 5)City 6)Age
- After the search results have been returned to you, you can click on the name of the person to go to his/her profile
Blogs
Viewing blogs
- Clicking on the link Blogs at the top right corner on any page will take you to the blogs page.
- The most recent blog will be displayed on the screen along with links <<< Newer and Older >>> to navigate through all the blogs.
- The most recent among the older blogs will also be displayed as a direct link on the right hand pane at any point in time.
- Blogs can be viewed by the public, including those currently not using Samparkh.
How do you comment on blogs?
- You can comment on the blogs Only if you are a registered Samparkh User.
- If you are a registered Samparkh user, a link Post a comment will appear on your blogs page for each blog.
- Click on it, fill up the text area and hit the Post button to post a comment.
Who posts the blogs?
- Samparkh blogs are maintained solely for the purpose of communicating our experiences to you.
- We,on the Samparkh team are currently the only people authorised to post blogs.
- But be patient. Once properly established, we are thinking of offering our Users, their own exclusive Blog space. We will intimate you when that happens.
Instant Chat
General Instructions
Invite to Chat
- To invite a person to chat, you have to navigate to the person's profile page and click on the Invite to Chat link on the left menu. Immediately a chat window will open waiting for approval from the person who you invited.
- If the window doesnt show and there is a error message, its because of one of these probable reasons
- You have already invited the person to chat and the request has not yet been accpeted or rejected.
- If the person has logged out during the time of invitation
- If you are already in a conversation with the person.
- If the Invitation is accepted, the system will notify you on the chat window and you can continue with the chatting.
- If you cannot see the chat window , then please look at disabling popup blockers in Genereal Instructions
- If the Invitation is rejected , the system will notify the reject in the chat window, please close the window and proceed.
Accept/Reject Chat Invite
- If in the process of browsing you recieve a chat request alert. you can either accept or reject the chat request
- By rejecting a message is sent to the requestor and you can continue with normal browsing.
- If you choose to accept the invitation , the chat window will open and you can chat with the requestor.
- If you could not see the chat window then see disabling popup blockers section in General Instructions
- Please close the window after you have finished chatting
Chat Extras
- Chat in Samparkh is real time and since we are dealing with browsers , ther are bound to be delays in messages being transmitted or recieved. In such a case please be patient and refrain from showing your anger on the poor keyboard.
- Nothing says it better than smileys. The standard set of :-) smileys are provided. Feel free to use them.

Ending Sessions
- Once you are done chatting please close the chat windows and proceed.
- If one person in a conversation closes his/her window then the other person is immediately notified in the chat window.
- Our instructions still persist. If nothing seems to be working please signout and sign into Samparkh
Problems with Chat Sessions
- If you have followed all the general instructions and also aloowed pop ups , javascript etc and are still not able to chat then please sign out and sign in to Samparkh. That should solve a world of issues that you mightface otherwise. If your efforts are in vaineven after that, send us a mail at admin@samparkh.com and also please state the problems that you faced. We will get back either personaly or through our Blogs.
